Hey there! The Out Of Place gang is back for a new year of adventures.
Happy New Year to all of you, I hope you had a good time during these holidays and we wish you that 2008 is a good year for you.
As a new year unveils upon us, the Out Of Place gang is here to share their adventures with you. We appreciate your visits and your comments from last year, and we hope you’ll continue to support us during this year, remember that YOU form an important part of this!, your comments and opinions and visits are an essential part of this.
I'm going to take a moment to make a brief explaining of this project to people that are new to this project (if you're not new to the blog, you can move on until it says Having said that).
If you’re new to this blog, we welcome you to the Out Of Place Project blog, this is a photography project done by Diego Raigoza Núñez, were the adventures of Batman, Crash Bandicoot and Felix The Cat are shown through weekly pictures. For a more thorough explanation on how the blog works and a bit of background, I recommend you read the post titled Welcome from November 22 2007, and that you read the following posts in order so you grasp all the changes the blog has gone through until this point.
You’re welcome to post your comments or ideas as a reply to the pictures, in the Cbox (read Photo #6 update for more info) or mail me. Just make sure your reply is not rude in any sense or it will be deleted, as long as its polite and nice, it will be allowed in here.
And the most important thing of all, no matter how stupid/silly/annoying/pointless/etc. you think your opinion is, SHARE IT, SHARE IT, SHARE IT, don’t be shy and swallow it, let us know what you think of the picture, your opinions and feedback are REALLY important to us.
Welcome to the Out Of Place Project blog :)
Having said that, we move on to this week's update. The blog stayed pretty calm during these past days, but expect another color change soon (hey, I like to play with the colors, leave me alone :) ).
I added a visit counter to the blog, I know it’s not a milestone improvement, but it does work to tell me how many visits this blog has from now on, just don’t abuse of it and hit Refresh every 5 seconds please :)
Now then, to the update.
As I said last week, the gang was going to do something special for a very special member of the Out Of Place crew (that is, the bunch of us who work behind the lens to bring you the pictures you see here).
A transport is always useful and needed to move from place to place, and when the transport is reliable and never lets you down, you develop a friendship link with it, well, the gang developed a link with the crew member who takes them safely back home, and that member is the Black Mosquito a.k.a. my car. And you’ll wonder "what's the big fuss about it?", well, a car doesn’t reach the 50,000 kilometers travelled mark every day, and the Black Mosquito reached it a few days ago, and even though its not a big deal to most people, we decided to host a small party for it, since it has provided 7 years and 50,170 kilometers (at the time of writing this) of reliable service. So the Out Of Place gang told me we should do something to commemorate the event, so we hosted a small party for the Black Mosquito, we got it a cake of 93 octane gasoline for it, we took it for a good wash in and out, and he's going to get his rim center replacement cups soon.
The Black Mosquito asked me to get some pictures of him to remember this date, I asked him if he wanted me to remove all the balloons the gang placed on him, but he said no, he was pleased with the balloons, the hat, the blowouts and the sign that said his achieved distance, so I took pictures of him that way, and then he wanted to get some shots taken with the gang, since he was happy that they made that for him, and of course the gang were happy to pose for the camera, they weren’t going to say no to that!
Placing them was a problem, since Batman's cape tickled the Black Mosquito, Crash wouldn’t stop sliding down from the windshield to the lights and repeating that, and Felix was playing with the red balloon, risking to blow it. So I told them that either they cooperated or they were going to let down the Black Mosquito because he wasn’t going to have any pictures with them taken.
Batman talked some sense into Crash and Felix and they stopped playing around and we manage to take some pictures, and this is one of them. As you’ll notice, Crash's hat was too big for him, Felix didn’t go too far from his red balloon, and Batman had to step down to stop tickling the Black Mosquito any further. What puzzles me is how Crash managed to hang from the light and that the Black Mosquito allowed him to stay there without complaining...
At the end of the day, the Black Mosquito was really pleased and happy with the party done for him, and I was relieved I was able to take pictures of the event with the gang, since Crash and Felix were like two small children having fun and not minding anything else, Batman saved the day this time.
I hope you like this week's picture, maybe it wasn’t the most exotic place they could have gone, but certainly they did something unusual for a thing that is most of the time taken for granted and unacknowledged.
Now it's back to keep exploring places and having adventures.
Stay tuned for next week, where will the gang go to this time?
Be sure to leave me your comments or thoughts about the picture or the place where the shot was taken, doesn’t mind if you’re new to the blog or not, you all count ;)
By the way, if you want to reply to a previous photograph, you’re welcome to do so.
See you next week!

a really nice party you had thrown there...well, the whole cast had deserved it :)
ReplyDeleteits nice to see how you had merged the party and the shooting...and how you had turned the fun also into something both practical and useful...well done
and the gang seems to be having a lot of fun and enjoying this....even Batman, though he seems to be most serious when it comes to work and shooting...he has stricken some sort of a defensive attitude, standing in front of the Black Mosquito, telling everyone "we are having a party here, and who ever minds it, steps closer and wants to interfere or ruin it, is gonna have to deal with ME, and I aint one bit nice when someone messes with my friends, got it?"
Crash and Felix are stories for themselves....Felix is really enjoying all this and he cant
stop dancing, swinging, singing, jumping...he is so happy since he has got a hold of the balloons, and moreover, he feels so full of himself, coz his hat fits so perfectly to him, while the one for Crash is bit oversized, so Felix just cant stop smiling inside himself, hardly resisting to point the finger at Crash and laugh...well, yeah, Crash does look funny with the hat (in a nice way)....and he has to show his gymnastic skills and muscles, how he can be hanging, holding himself with one hand, without falling....probably he is pulling Black Mosquito's moustache, but as being most reasonable among all of them, the Black Mosquito is keeping quiet and doesnt complain, coz otherwise, the shooting would have
never ended, and pictures would have never been taken...so for the sake of it all, he decided
to endure the gang's follies and let them have fun...I mean, in the end, if it wasnt for the gang, the party would have never happened, so he is thankful to them for that...
Eventually, when the party ended, they were all pleased and happy and with lost of nice reminiscences, eagerly waiting for their next adventure.
a really lovely photo, mmmm, unique I must say, in idea and concept
all due respect for the Black Mosquito with lots of wishes for many further anniversaries like this..
You're right, Felix did enjoy it a lot and he did laugh behind Crash's back of the fact his hat was all oversized when the one he had fit perfectly.
ReplyDeleteAnd Crash may not be the best tree climber, but he sure can grab himself from somewhere and stay there, at least long enough to take a picture.
And youre right, Batman is the most serious one when it comes to shooting, hey may not smile much, but he sure does his job.
Im glad you liked the picture, thank you for visiting us and for your comment.
